We are excited to welcome Pat Day, the all-time winning jockey at the legendary Churchill Downs racetrack, to our Main Street Derby event! The event will begin at 11am on Main Street with kids crafting pool-noodle horses. Pat Day will shoot off the confetti gun to start the Kids' Derby Race at 12:15. At 1:00 families and friends are invited to a Main Street Dance party. At 2:00, there will be a fashion show that will include fashions across the decades to highlight our county's bicentennial celebration. This event is sponsored by Judith M. Millinery, La Grange Tourism, and La Grange Main Street Program. On the same day, there will be a craft show happening in Pavilion 2 at City Place. Lots of reasons to come down the stretch to Main Street!
On February 15th the county kicked off the year long celebration of Oldham County's Bicentennial. La Grange Elementary fifth graders joined a large group of community members and local officials on the Oldham County History Center lawn at the celebration which included proclamations from the La Grange Mayor John Black, County Judge Executive and Governor Andy Beshear. There was a large birthday cake and special appearances from Kentucky native President Abraham Lincoln and Oldham County's own Underground Railroad Conductor Delia Webster and Freemason and Eastern Star founder Robb Morris.
