Path of the Panther film wins abroad at Jackson Wild and Wildscreen film festivals

The Path of the Panther film was nominated for four awards at this year's Jackson Wild Film Festival hosted in Austria. Considered the highest bar of achievement in natural history filmmaking, the Jackson Wild Media Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in nature, science, and conservation storytelling. Our team is honored to have taken home the award for Best Ecosystem Long Form.

The globally acclaimed Wildscreen Panda Awards, often referred to as the 'Green Oscars', is hosted in Bristol, England, and celebrates the best in natural world storytelling. Path of the Panther is the winner of the 2022 Save Our Seas Foundation Impact Award as well as the Off the Fence Production Team Award.

Pictured at Jackson Wild Media Awards is impact producer Tori Linder, cinematographer and producer Thomas Winston, cinematographer and producer Carlton Ward Jr, and director Eric Bendick.

The film reaches the U.S. West Coast screening at Bend and Mill Valley Film Festivals

"I was so moved by the footage, by the compelling storyline, by the cooperation between the ranchers and the conservationist, and finally by the payoff photos at the end." —Shelby Little, Bend Film Festival

"In the southern Everglades, a wildlife photographer, veterinarians, ranchers, conservationists, and indigenous people join forces to track and protect the endangered Florida panther. In this moving documentary, stunning images of the big cats spur the movement to restore a majestic keystone species as well as dwindling wilderness. While National Geographic’s Carlton Ward, Jr. employs camera traps to capture thrilling video and still portraits of panthers and other marshland creatures, biologists track the elusive wild felines, vets rehabilitate them after car strikes, and ranchers preserve working land and prevent overdevelopment. Creating wildlife corridors through ranch lands and nature preserves is the long-term plan. Through Ward’s art, the Florida panther and the swampland itself speak eloquently of their right to continue. A gripping tale of survival, Path of the Panther offers hope that we can follow our love of beauty and nature toward better stewardship of the Earth." —Carol Harada, Mill Valley Film Festival
