An update from Pathfinder Village's businesses:
The Farmstead | The Bakery | The Inn | Pathfinder Produce

Holiday Edition 2025

Let's talk business!

Pathfinder Village has operated its existing businesses--the Bakery, Inn, and Pathfinder Produce--as separate entities that have fostered community ties, presented needed services, and provided job and training opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. Now, with our plans for The Farmstead at Pathfinder Village, a distinctive shopping venue and community center, we are sending out updates to our friends, families, customers and community partners, to raise awareness and further develop our Pathfinder Village brand.

"Pathfinder Community Collective" is the new name of our management umbrella for all our businesses, reflecting our inclusive, abilities-focused mission. "PCC" represents our business philosophy and commitment to empowering people through vocational training and employment activities and fostering a supportive, progressive environment.

The Farmstead Market & Community Center:

Construction is underway on The Farmstead Market & Community Center, an exciting new destination designed to bring people together while meeting the everyday needs of local shoppers. Opening in late 2026, The Farmstead will be a vibrant, inclusive market with expanded hours, featuring distinctive foods, handcrafted items, and locally inspired goods.

More than a market, The Farmstead will be a hub for connection and opportunity. It will create meaningful pathways through vocational training, business partnerships, outdoor recreation, and a wide range of community-centered experiences that invite everyone to gather, learn, and participate.

Designed by Altonview Architects of Cooperstown, the building is being constructed to meet LEED-Silver energy efficiency and sustainability standards, reflecting a commitment to both people and the planet. Pike Construction Services and our subcontractors are on track to fully enclose the building by the New Year, with interior work continuing throughout 2026 as this vision comes to life.

Bakery Bites:

Some of the Bakery's delicious offerings; volunteers rate some of our latest lunch menu creations.

The Bakery is serving up our new lunch menu with fresh salads, satisfying soups, scrumptious sides, and hearty sandwiches. Recently, we tested several recipes with volunteers. (The approved dishes will join our lunch specials in the coming weeks. If you would like to join future taste tests, please call 607-965-8377, x 183.)

Of course, we continue to offer our fresh baked goods, beverages, coffee creations and more! Visit our social media for updates and we hope to see you soon!

In the Spotlight-People & Partners:

We're pleased to introduce Christine Rautenstrauch of West Edmeston, our Director of the Pathfinder Community Collective. Christine brings a wealth of experience in retail, business operations, and human services, making her an ideal fit to lead our Pathfinder microbusinesses. Her appointment reflects our commitment to thoughtful planning and leadership continuity. By filling this role, Christine will have the opportunity to shape The Farmstead's programming, staffing, and operations, ensuring a smooth and successful launch.

Stay with us!

Experience the charm of Pathfinder Village with an overnight stay at the Village Inn. Our guests immerse themselves in our community, enjoying the Bakery, attending activities, and exploring our beautiful, cohesive village.

The Inn was developed in the early 1980s and was a key part of our early prevocational programs for adults and teens. Based on specifications from the Sheraton Corporation and funded through an Appalachian Regional Commission Grant, the Inn was dedicated by Villagers and community partners on October 9, 1982.

With comfortable accommodations in four affordable, cozy guest rooms, the Inn offers a peaceful retreat for families, business travelers, and anyone seeking a unique getaway. For reservations, call (607) 965-8377 x 183 or email our inn staff.

Get Involved - How You Can Help:

As we build The Farmstead, we are meeting families and neighbors who share our belief that providing an essential food market, retail store, and community space will help build a stronger, more vibrant community.

Earlier this fall, Pathfinder received a generous donation of a large, farm-inspired rooster and chick by NYS artist Jay Seaman, a gift from the Village's retired architect, Norm Davies. Our good friends from NYCM's Maintenance Department used their equipment and expertise to carefully place the artwork in position. Pathfinder's Nick Campbell, Brady Worden, and Christine Rautenstrauch recently brought the Maintenance Department some bakery treats to show our appreciation.

If you would like to learn more about The Farmstead and opportunities to support this transformative project, please contact Pathfinder Village Foundation Director Monica Clark to learn more. If you would like to make a gift, please use our secure online donation link.

Our signature rooster and chick sculpture was recently installed along NYS 80 and is proudly announcing big changes at The Farmstead.
