Greetings!

As the Paths of Purpose Dinner on April 11th draws near, we at Crosswalk Center are inspired to share a deeper look into the life-changing story of Abel Sosa. His remarkable journey of transformation is a vivid illustration of the profound impact your support has on individual lives.
The Early Years: A Struggle for Survival
Abel's life in Harlingen, Texas, was fraught with hardship from the beginning. Growing up in a family battling addiction, his childhood was overshadowed by severe neglect and abuse. His search for refuge led him to his grandparents, but tragically, this only exposed him to different forms of mistreatment, deepening his trauma. These early experiences set Abel on a troubling path of defiance and legal conflicts. By 13, he was a ward of the state, and his teenage years spiraled into criminal activities, culminating in an aggravated robbery charge at 16. His life at this point was a constant struggle for survival within a system that seemed more punishing than healing.
Crosswalk Center: A Turning Point
At Crosswalk Center, Abel found a new beginning. Here, he was recognized not just as another case but as a young individual full of potential. We provided a sanctuary for healing and self-discovery, a place far removed from the challenges of his past.
Transformation: Rising Above the Struggles
Engaging with our discipleship program, Abel began reshaping his life. Through counseling, mentorship, and various workshops, he converted his painful experiences into strength, slowly transitioning from a victim of his circumstances to a victor over them.

I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.
