Delawareans “in the know” are aware that a substantial percentage of business expansion and growth in the First State is happening in the manufacturing sector. There are many factors driving this reality and this bodes well for our state. As our nation “onshores” or “reshores” its industrial base—given the projected decline of both China and Russia over the next decade due to population demographics—we are doing our part to prepare for a future where it is in our economic and national security interests to make more things here. That’s the good news.
The challenge for Delaware is to keep its young people here and be an attractive location with careers that promise advancement for singles and families resettling in the Mid-Atlantic. As every good consultant knows, the path to greater prosperity is to expand the work you’re already doing for existing clients. In this context, it’s very important to keep our current students, parents, and neighbors here. That is why programs in our education, workforce and training affiliate, The Partnership, are critical to our success.
Our Intern Delaware program provides employers the opportunity to latch on to young talent and fill vacancies being made by retirements and others within your organization moving up. We are the fifth oldest state in the union now, and our future is at risk if we don’t keep our young people here and attract many more just like them. Contact us now if you would like to start up an internship program and participate in Intern Delaware this summer 2024. You’ll be glad you did.
Our Superstars in Education & Training awards program serves to recognize workforce development programs for their outstanding achievements and model approaches to education and training. So much creativity is happening in our state when it comes to preparing and upskilling our workforce. If you think your program or one you know deserves this recognition, consider applying for the award here. Our honorees will be recognized at our new workforce and education summit in April 2024!
