WASHINGTON — Today, Action for Health, representing more than 10 million patients nationwide, sent a coalition letter to the Trump Administration. Writing to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Domestic Policy Council Director Brooke Rollins, we are deeply concerned that the White House has floated a plan for surprise medical bills ("balance bills") that lacks a mandate as to how hospitals and physicians would recover costs from health insurers.

In the addition, we stress that, if the Administration really wants to resolve this critical healthcare issue, it should work with Congress to support a real independent dispute resolution (IDR) process. As the letter states, "Leaving patients out to dry with a faulty fix to balance bills will haunt us for years to come."
