Receive 2016 Patricia DeGrinney LIFE Award

Carroll and Terri Conley of the Christian Civic League of Maine have been awarded the 2016 prestigious Patricia DeGrinney LIFE Award .  The announcement was made at Maine Right to Life Committee's statewide annual convention held October 15 in Portland.  A packed banquet hall responded enthusiastically to the announcement, with a long standing ovation for Carroll and Terri Conley.  Carroll's mother, Pauline Conley, was in attendance, as were several members of the Board of Directors of the Christian Civic League of Maine including Linc Merrill and Elaine Bridge. Pastor Bob Emrich who serves on Maine Right to Life Committee Board of Directors, as well as Chairman of the Board for the Christian Civic League of Maine, helped us keep the winners' identity under wraps until the surprise announcement at Maine Right to Life Committee's annual convention.  Carolyn Mitchell, Patricia's beloved daughter from Scarborough, was on hand for the announcement as well.

 

The statewide Life Award is presented to a Maine citizen aged 12-100 years old who has consistently demonstrated compassion, leadership, and service for Maine's unborn babies, their moms, and/or the elderly.

 

"Carroll and Terri Conley are disciples of Christ and natural born leaders with a passion for protecting innocent human life.  They, like Patricia DeGrinney, exemplify the best of pro-life Maine," stated Teresa McCann-Tumidajski, Executive Director of Maine Right to Life Committee.   " There are no more worthy recipients of the 2016 Patricia DeGrinney LIFE Award than Carroll and Terri Conley.  They put faith above all else, with a passion for protecting innocent human life,"  Tumidajski added .

 

The Patricia DeGrinney Life Award was instituted in honor of a founding member of Maine Right to Life Committee: Patricia DeGrinney.   Patricia worked tirelessly for over 40 years to educate women and men concerning the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.  A staunch advocate of the unborn and elderly, Patricia DeGrinney spearheaded many pro-life programs throughout the state of Maine.  Like Patricia DeGrinney, Carroll and Terri Conley are devoted teachers, loving spouses and parents, and uber proud grandparents.
