Mark Liston and Mary Kay Liston

Inspirational Stories After an Alarming Medical Diagnosis.

Authors Mark Liston and Mary Kay Liston share their faith-filled journey in addition to stories of 26 others to help readers cope with life-altering diagnoses in Diagnosed: Inspirational Stories After an Alarming Medical Diagnosis.

Can a difficult diagnosis create a stronger faith? On November 3, 2022, Mark and Mary Kay Liston went to the ER to treat a nasty cough that Mark had picked up. After hours, the doctor entered the room and gave Mark the somber diagnosis of lung cancer, indicating a ping pong-sized lump in his lung. To Mark, who was a healthy, lifelong non-smoker, the diagnosis was both shocking and confusing. In the following 76 days, he journaled and wrote notes down on all his daily medical interactions, doctor and hospital appointments, and medications given.

Mark and Mary Kay will share stories of of similar life-threatening diagnoses, which resulted in the compilation and creation of the Diagnosed: Inspirational Stories After an Alarming Medical Diagnosis.

Positively Speaking: Patricia's Perspective

Embracing Our Gifts

There’s a saying that goes, “Be careful what you ask for, because you might get it.”  We all have goals and dreams and some of us spend a good deal of time focusing on them. So what happens when we actually get that new job opportunity we wanted, our dream relationship, house we visualized, trip we waited for?

Once we’ve accepted this new wonderful thing in our life that we asked for, it’s time to embrace it, give thanks and treasure it. That involves working with and through the changes we must face, learning new ways of thinking and acting, and using the past as a platform from which to spring forward.

In my book Pathfinding I write, “I encourage you to develop a “now” mentality. Practice in-the-moment living. Because each moment becomes your life passage, history and legacy combined, it makes good sense to be fully aware of how each moment affects you. “Only by living consciously in the present,” says G. W. Casper, “can we grasp the full meaning of our lives.”

So when we get what we asked for,  its time to give thanks and fully enjoy it right here and right now!

Happy Holidays everyone!
