Shawn Quirk

From Filmmaker to Festival Director

Shawn Quirk, executive director of the Rhode Island International Film Festival, joins us to discuss missions of the festival, as well as what the festival has to offer. Shawn will discuss how it is designed to foster contact among filmmakers, artists, audiences, and more. The goal is to recognize achievement and innovation in a variety of films while providing wider distribution. The festival takes place in Providence, RI and will include multiple media screenings over a seven day period. Shawn has been with the festival for 13 years and has a two-pronged approach to serving filmmakers in RI and beyond, which he will mention. Shawn will also discuss programming a regional festival in the digital age, as streaming has gained popularity.
