Mark Liston and Mary Kay Liston

Inspirational Stories After an Alarming Medical Diagnosis.

Authors Mark Liston and Mary Kay Liston share their faith-filled journey in addition to stories of 26 others to help readers cope with life-altering diagnoses in Diagnosed: Inspirational Stories After an Alarming Medical Diagnosis.

Can a difficult diagnosis create a stronger faith? On November 3, 2022, Mark and Mary Kay Liston went to the ER to treat a nasty cough that Mark had picked up. After hours, the doctor entered the room and gave Mark the somber diagnosis of lung cancer, indicating a ping pong-sized lump in his lung. To Mark, who was a healthy, lifelong non-smoker, the diagnosis was both shocking and confusing. In the following 76 days, he journaled and wrote notes down on all his daily medical interactions, doctor and hospital appointments, and medications given.

Mark and Mary Kay will share stories of of similar life-threatening diagnoses, which resulted in the compilation and creation of the Diagnosed: Inspirational Stories After an Alarming Medical Diagnosis.

Positively Speaking: Patricia's Perspective

   Applying Personal Values to Business

Business always involves selling, which in itself appears to be a straightforward, simple task. But underneath the surface, selling is a highly complex skill often involving values and emotion. It is about building relationships, which involves trust. The more we understand the needs of our clients, the better opportunity we have to give them what they need. There is also an ethical aspect to selling which can sometimes get in the way of our basic need for financial security.

Personally, I feel it is important to weigh the amount of “money” in your emotional and ethical bank with the amount of money in your financial bank. I think we are best served when we can align our principles and values with our behavior and action, an important factor in maintaining well-being in our personal and professional lives.

My perspective is:

•Conduct your business with your higher purpose in the forefront

•Listen to your customers, clients and colleagues and understand their point of view, even if it is not your perspective.

•Know and focus on making a difference for the people you do business with

•Bring joy into your work, even on the tough days

•Be grateful for the opportunity to do your work, even when the role or position of the work may need to change

•Be fair with the your business relationships. They will remember how they were treated and it can bring both of you dividends internally and externally.
