Stress Management - Post COVID
We are technically out of COVID but the virus still lingers and so do its mental, physical and psychological effects. Whenever there is uncertainty, it is followed by anxiety and COVID blindsided us. There was no warning or preparation time and now mental health issues are on the rise.
So having said that especially during this time, here are ten gentle reminders of ways we can reduce stress and stay balanced:
•Move. Walk, dance, play a sport, do something that rids tension from the body
•Take deep breaths.When you are aware of your breathing, you are focusing your mind.
•Eat for Health. Consume fiber-rich foods such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables
•Strengthen your brain. Try new variations and challenges. Do things in a different way. Learn a new skill or hobby new computer skills, golf
•Laugh more. Laughter suppresses the stress-related hormones in the brain, and activates the immune system.
•Be out in nature. Exposure to nature makes you feel better emotionally and contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones.
•Share with friends. Cultivate strong networks which has been demonstrated to help ou live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives
•See yourself rooted – with roots growing from your feet deep into the ground
•Seek peace of mind. Peace of mind translates into good health because so much of our disease is caused by stress and burnout.
•Count all your blessings of what is working in your life
