Students Chosen to Represent KDS at Continental Congress
KDS DAR School is pleased to announce Georgia Turner and Ben Sutton as its 2019 Continental Congress Representatives. Following a rigorous selection process, Georgia and Ben, KDS juniors, were chosen to represent the school during the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution's 128th annual Continental Congress in Washington, D.C., this June.
A widespread flu outbreak has once again resulted in a campus-wide school closing at KDS.
A high number of student and employee absences at KDS and the other Marshall County Schools since the beginning of 2019 culminated in a system-wide shut-down on Monday, January 28 and Tuesday, January 29.
When school resumed on Wednesday, there were nearly 250 KDS students absent at the start of the day, and more were sent home sick throughout the day. These staggering figures, along with similar attendance figures elsewhere in Marshall County, prompted the decision to close school for the remainder of the week - Thursday, January 31 and Friday, February 1 - to give students time to recover and school officials time to sanitize facilities.
KDS Players Make All-State Football Team
This year, during what was an amazing football season for KDS DAR High School, two players who excelled earned spots on the All-State Football Team. Seniors Brayden Lewis and Will Bailey were selected for First Team All-State, which is a special honor. Brayden is a wide receiver, and Will plays quarterback.
