Junior Membership Classroom Grant
KDS DAR Elementary School was very fortunate to be the recipient of a Helen Pouch Memorial Fund Classroom Grant for 2018 in the amount of $500. Elementary Counselor Kim Smith was very excited to be able to purchase student workbooks for each child at KDS Elementary from kindergarten through fourth grade. The workbooks supplement the Mendez Foundation "Too Good for Violence" curriculum.

KDS Celebrates Constitution Week
In honor of the adoption of the United States Constitution, the Gunter Mountain Chapter, NSDAR, provided teachers at the KDS DAR Elementary and Middle Schools with educational packets containing Constitution facts, student activity sheets, and sources for finding additional information. Pre-K through fourth grade students also received patriotic stickers, and students in the Middle School received Preamble to the Constitution bookmarks.

Super Citizen Program Comes to KDS Elementary
Just imagine a generation of students who excel in teach-to-test subjects but have little knowledge of civics, character, financial responsibility, and career readiness. Will math and science alone continue our nation's progress? Our students deserve to learn these guiding lessons, as well as the great American Story that gives context to their important roles in our country's future. We must teach them that they hold titles more important than "engineer," "scientist," even "president" ... That title is citizen.
