KDS students in Pre-K through twelfth grade celebrated the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution with classroom lessons, activities, and visits by DAR Chapter members.
Gunter Mountain Chapter, NSDAR, provided proclamations for signing by school principals and students. This Chapter also provided classroom posters, age-appropriate activity sheets, bookmarks, patriotic stickers, and information about the U. S. Constitution to the teachers for distribution to all the students.
KDS recently welcomed several new members to its Board of Trustees.
Kay Yarbrough, Regent of the Florida State Society DAR; Sharla L. Luken, Regent of the Illinois Organization DAR; Hellen R. Polk, Regent of the Mississippi State Society DAR; Wilhelmena R. Kelly, Regent of the New York Organization DAR; Beth A. Watkins, Regent of the Pennsylvania State Society DAR; Cecile S. Wimberley, Regent of the Tennessee State Society DAR; and LeAnn F. Turbyfill, Regent of the Virginia DAR were elected to the Board in May to serve terms that coincide with their terms as State Regent. Also elected were Adele Lancaster of California and Lanabeth Horgen of Washington for three-year terms.
