Dedication Day Reminder
The 98th Dedication Day of Kate Duncan Smith DAR School is scheduled for September 29 and 30, 2022. We are excited to welcome NSDAR President General Pamela R. Wright, National School Chair Dawn Lemongello, Alabama State Regent Patrice Donnelly, and the National Executive Officers to our campus and would love to have you join us!
All guests planning to attend Dedication Day should submit a completed Event Registration Form no later than September 19.
The Need for Blessings Bags is Greater This Year
The KDS DAR School Blessings Bags program provides food sacks for schoolchildren who have limited access to food on the weekends. For the 2022-2023 school year, more than 320 KDS Elementary and Middle School students have requested to receive the weekly packs. Last year, that number was 250.

KDS Alumni Tailgate
KDS Alumni, we have a special treat just for you! Make plans to join us as we tailgate under the Friday night lights on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 6PM at Patriot Stadium! The DAR Patriots will face off against Clements High School at our homecoming game.

Middle School Peer Helpers
The KDS DAR Middle School Peer Helpers are a part of a program active in many schools throughout the state and nation through the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation. This program provides assistance to youth with the hope of enabling all young people to have access to help, understanding, and positive reinforcement when they need it. Selected students make up a team of leaders who are committed to serving others.

Track Renovation Progressing
The complete renovation of the KDS Track is progressing. Concrete curbs/edges around the football field, installation of drains, and relocating the interior fencing have been completed, and compacting of the track base material is nearing completion. Asphalt paving is scheduled to begin on or around September 19, and application of the rubberized track surface will begin in mid to late October.
Construction of the new ticket booths and replacement of some sections of the exterior fencing will begin soon.

We look forward to having the track completed by the end of the year so that it may be utilized for outdoor track and field season in the Spring.
FFA Presents Hunting Safety
The KDS DAR High School Future Farmers of America hosted Marshall County Game Warden Officer Kirby for an interactive learning session on firearms and tree stand safety on August 31st. With many KDS students involved in hunting, some will spend many hours in the woods in the upcoming hunting season and the hope is that information presented will enhance their knowledge of safety. This enrichment presentation was attended by more than 75 students in the Doris Pike White Gymnasium.
Museum Weekend
The KDS DAR School Museum & Archives will participate in Marshall County Museums Weekend September 17-18, 2022.

The newly formed Marshall County Museum Alliance, made up of seven museums in the county, is hosting a Museum Weekend on September 17 and 18, in conjunction with Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day, a nationwide event that encourages curiosity and learning at museums.
