Veterans Day. Honoring All Who Served.
Today we give honor to those who served our country, to those serving now, and to the many men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

At ICAN, we know the importance of honoring all those who have served, and one of our missions is to train veteran assistance dogs to help with mobility and PTSD. We have seen first-hand how our dogs unleash abilities and change lives. ICAN’s trained service dogs help our clients and handlers feel empowered, break barriers, and overcome challenges — generating life-changing results.
Their skills help them by retrieving items, assisting them in a brace to get out of bed, a sofa or chair, open and close doors, turn on lights, nudge to bring them out of a PTSD situation, and so much more. One example of how an ICAN dog has changed a veteran's life is Nick and Festus.

''I had to kneel to pick up anything I dropped, then crawl to a piece of furniture to pull myself up. Then Christmas of 2018, Charlie became my Service Dog, and what an incredible change in life. Charlie can pick anything up I drop and knows the difference between keys, cellphone, TV remote, etc. I continue to perform many daily tasks from the kneeling position.

Charlie excels as he continuously keeps an eye on me and when it’s time to stand, Charlie aligns himself against my chest and braces, and with one hand on his shoulders and one on his hips, Charlie stands firm until I’m up, stable and he feels my hands leave his backHe has performed beyond all expectations.
Thank you ICAN.''
