LOOKING FOR A PATTERN MAKER? I can recommend a really great one. Julia Le Sueur was designer Babette’s pattern maker for years. When Babette retired, I was fortunate enough to inherit Julia because my long term pattern maker, Monica Houlihan had also retired. Julia has been making all of the Today’s Fit patterns for Vogue for the last 3 years and I could not be happier. Check out her website: www.studiolesueur.com.

After months of lockdown, I flew to Florida to spend a week with a dear friend, who is nearing 90. Because we planned to do nothing, we had a great visit: cooking, reading, talking and watching Netflix. If you love clothes, I would highly recommend THE FISHER MYSTERIES on Netflix. I would also recommend THE ARTIST’S WIFE on Amazon.
My flight to Washington D.C. on United to see my brother was packed but because everyone was wearing masks, I felt somewhat safe . I was thrilled to see that G Street Fabrics was open in Rockville, Maryland. They have moved to a smaller store, but treasures are still to be found. G Street had a table stacked with mudcloth,  where I found the piece in the image above.

Away from my sewing machine, I have been doing a lot of reading. CASTE by Isabel Wilkerson is highly recommended. If you are looking for a little book which will warm your heart, pick up THE ALCHEMIST by Paul Coelho. It is an old book that has sold millions of copies. Then DISLOYAL by Michael Cohen is of a political nature.
Stay safe by wearing a mask and stay happy by sewing something from your stash.
