Adolescence is often a turbulent time marked by exploration and the concept of "identity crisis," as introduced by psychoanalyst Erik Erikson. However, what happens when these challenges are amplified by global crises like the pandemic or traumatic war images spread rapidly by the internet since October 7th?
This workshop will revisit key psychoanalytic views on adolescent development, particularly from Erikson and modern analyst Dr. Sidney Love. We will also discuss the sharp rise in anxiety among teens, driven by smartphones and digital media, which have reshaped how adolescents process stress and engage with the world.
Our focus will be on changes in adolescent development post-COVID and after the events of October 7, 2023. We’ll explore how these crises have deepened fear and uncertainty, altering the way teens connect with themselves and others.
Through case presentations and discussions, we will examine the impact on adolescent mental health and identify therapeutic approaches that best support resilience in these unprecedented times.
Join us to explore these new realities and strategies to help adolescents thrive.
