FPC Daily Advent Devotional // Monday, December 25
P A U S E

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.  What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

- John 1:1-5

P O N D E R

Where have you seen the light overcome the darkness during this Advent season?
Is there something you can do to share the light of Christ with others as we move into a new year?

P R A Y

Perhaps it does not begin.
Perhaps it is always.

Perhaps it takes
a lifetime
to open our eyes,
to learn to see
what has forever
shimmered in front of us -

the luminous line
of the map
in the dark,

the vigil flame
in the house
of the heart...

Perhaps
our eyes
will finally open
in ancient recognition,
willingly dazzled,
illuminated at last.

Perhaps this day
the light begins
in us.
