Update Your Landscape: Unleash Creativity with Landscape Pavers.
Why Choose Landscape Pavers?
Before diving into the creative uses, let’s take a brief moment to appreciate why landscape pavers are the go-to choice for many Jacksonville homeowners:
-
Durability: Pavers can withstand Florida’s unique climate, from its hot summers to its rainy seasons.
-
Variety: Available in an array of colors, shapes, sizes, and materials, pavers are every landscaper's dream.
-
Low Maintenance: With minimal upkeep, these stones retain their beauty for years.
-
Flexibility: Pavers are adaptable to various design visions, from classic to contemporary.
|
Creative Uses of Landscape Pavers in Your Garden
Paver Pathways: Perhaps the most common use, but with a twist! Instead of a straightforward path, create a winding journey through your garden. Combine different shapes and sizes or intersperse with grass or ground cover for a mosaic look.
| |
Paver Planters: Elevate your plants—literally. Construct raised plant beds using stacked pavers. It provides a unique visual dimension to your garden and helps with soil drainage, ensuring your plants stay healthy.
Artistic Mosaics: Why settle for plain when you can have art? Use colored pavers to create beautiful patterns or even depict a scene. This works exceptionally well for large patio areas or central garden spaces, turning them into conversation pieces.
Paver Benches: Create a paver seat bench with a back wall. Throw on some outdoor cushions, and you have the perfect spot for those tranquil Florida evenings.
Paver Driveways: A popular choice for homeowners who prioritize durability and aesthetics. They are made of interlocking bricks, making them incredibly sturdy and long-lasting. Moreover, pavers come in a wide range of colors, textures, and shapes, so you can customize your driveway to match the style of your home.
Lush Lawn Grids: Create modern, geometric grids by placing large square pavers with equal distances apart and letting grass grow between them. This design works especially well for contemporary homes, offering a neat yet vibrant lawn alternative.
Circular Patios: Round patios are gaining popularity and for a good reason. They offer a focal point, are aesthetically pleasing, and provide a gathering space. Use radial patterns with your pavers to accentuate the circle.
| |
Paver Borders: Outline your garden beds with pavers to create clean, defined edges. It’s a simple addition but makes a world of difference in making your garden look organized and polished.
Tips for Unleashing Creativity with Pavers
-
Mix and Match: Don't be afraid to combine different types of pavers. This can add depth, contrast, and intrigue to your design.
-
Level Up: Play with levels. Raised areas, sunken lounges, or multi-tiered gardens can add depth and dynamism to your garden.
-
Integrate Nature: Let moss grow between certain paver joints, integrate creeping plants, or use the pavers to frame existing trees.
-
Light It Up: Embed LED lights within your paver structures. This not only enhances safety but also adds a magical ambiance during the evening.

LAWN MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR SEPTEMBER
POND CARE TIPS FOR SEPTEMBER
Are You a Microbiologist?
You are if you maintain your pond the Earth Works way. That is to say if you treat your pond with one of the various natural microbiological solutions we provide. The products we carry are safe for all living things, and they include itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny microbes that do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to keeping the pond clean and crystal clear.
Earth Works ponds are designed to replicate what happens in nature, which reduces maintenance to a minimum. The balanced ecosystem pond relies on biological and mechanical filtration units, plants, a gravel bottom, and billions of hungry microbes that break down organic matter like leaves and debris.
| |
1 Skimmer
The skimmer filter removes
debris from the pond before it can
sink to the bottom and decay,
helping to keep your pond water
clean and clear.
2 BioFalls
Biological filtration is provided the BioFalls filter. The included BioBalls and filter mats provide surface area for bacteria to colonize. The bacteria break down toxins and excess nutrients, thereby ensuring healthier pond water.

4 Water Circulation
Water movement and circulation is another extremely important component to the ecosystem pond approach. Proper water flow throughout the pond maintains necessary oxygen levels, optimizes water quality, and minimizes maintenance in your pond.
| |
5 Fish
Pond fish are an integral part of your ecosystem. Fish minimize algae growth by grazing on excess string algae growing in the pond. In addition, fish waste provides important nutrients for your aquatic plants
6 Aquatic Plants
Aquatic plants help balance your entire pond ecosystem, minimizing maintenance and maximizing optimum water conditions. Plants
absorb nitrogen, ammonia, nitrates and other minerals that can lead to unsightly water conditions.
| |
Keeping the water clear doesn’t require a degree in biochemistry. All you need is a bottle or two of Aquascape’s blend of microbial solutions that can be added manually or with an automatic dosing system that is easy to operate.
Keeping your pond balanced can require a little restraint, however. Ponds with too many fish or fish being overfed usually lead to cloudy water or algae blooms that can be challenging to manage. In nature, Koi and Goldfish will eat algae as a regular source of nourishment and will help maintain a clean pond if not overfed with pellets or flakes. Not only does overfeeding keep the fish from eating more algae, but the uneaten food and extra waste that drops to the bottom will fuel further algae blooms.
If you need help keeping your pond clean and clear, stop by and chat with one of our pond professionals. We’d love to show you our ponds here at the garden center and help you develop a system that will help you reduce maintenance and enjoy a beautiful
crystal-clear pond.
