Starting Monday, May 17, 6th Street SW will be closed immediately north of Wilson Avenue for water main installation and surface restoration. The work is expected to take approximately 2 weeks and motorists are asked to follow the signed detour, which will utilize
I-380. During this time, Wilson Avenue will remain open.
Future Wilson Avenue Closure
Once 6th Street reopens and work is completed, Wilson Avenue will be closed immediately west of 6th Street, also for water main installation, utility work and surface restoration. This closure is anticipated to be in place approximately 3 weeks.
Elsewhere on the project, relocation of private utilities continues along 6th Street between Wilson Avenue and 33rd Avenue. Pavement widening along the west side of 6th Street was installed this week. The existing raised medians on 6th Street north and south of 33rd Avenue will be removed shortly to allow traffic flow to shift during construction. Temporary signals will shortly be installed at the Wilson Avenue and 33rd Avenue intersections to maintain traffic control.
As always, if you have questions or concerns during the project, please do not hesitate to contact a member of our project team.
