Because of snow melt and recent rains, work on the box culvert is on hold. However, excavation has been completed for the retaining walls on the north side between 20th Street and 26th Street.
If weather permits, project activity will pick up next week. Installation of the retaining walls between 20th Street and 26th Street will begin, along with water main installation and connection on 24th Street. After work on 24th Street is completed, water main installation going west from 26th Street will resume.
Late next week, Rathje Construction Co. also plans to begin pavement work going west from 20th Street.
O Avenue NW will be closed to through traffic at 20th Street, but residents within work areas and on side streets will have access from Edgewood Road. Work areas will be approximately one block in length to maintain side street access, and will move westward as each area is completed. This process will be repeated to the Nedderman Farms entrance.
Relocation of underground utilities is now completed. Some overhead utilities still need to be transferred from the old poles to the new ones. After that is completed, the old poles can be removed.
