At this point, new water main has been installed along 20th Street from Chandler Street to the entrance to Jefferson High School, and partially around the Chandler Street “loop.” This week will be relatively quiet, except for setting up the detour for the next stage.
Starting Monday, June 7
20th Street SW will be fully closed at the entrance to Jefferson High School for full reconstruction, including new water main, storm sewer, and new pavement. The underground work at the entrance is expected to take 3 weeks. After the underground work is completed, the pavement will be placed and work on water main and storm sewer at other project locations will resume. The work at the Jefferson High School entrance is expected to be completed early-to-mid August, prior to the beginning of the school year.
At the same time, reconstruction of the crosswalk on 20th Street at 16th Avenue will begin. The crosswalk work is coordinated with construction of a Kwik Star store at 16th Avenue at 20th Street, and is expected to be completed by end of June.
