Dog of the Month:
Say Hello to Derby, a sweet dog full of love for everyone he meets!
Meet Derby
Meet Derby! Derby is handsome with a gorgeous brindle coat and close to 5 years old. He also has a great smile. Derby has been with us since June and is ready to go home.

Derby is house broken and crate trained. Children make Derby very nervous so he should go home with children over 15 years old. Derby would do best in a home as the only dog.

Derby is very playful and protective. He loves the play yard. He runs hard and enjoys playing with rope toys and tennis balls. He enjoys walks and walks well on leash. He is looking for an active home where he goes on many walks, outdoor adventures and then cuddles on the couch with you in the evening.

Derby would definitely do well with some professional training classes to fine tune his manners and learn some new things.

If you'd like to meet Derby, please apply on our website at buttehumane.org/adopt-a-dog and a Dog Adoptions Counselor will contact you to schedule a meet and greet.
Volunteer Spotlight: Darci!
Darci has been a volunteer with Butte Humane Society since 2016. In that time she has dedicated countless hours volunteering with our events. Without Darci’s help, the events we all love would not be what they are. She is a huge part of every aspect of planning these and we love her here.
When she isn’t helping plan our events…and sometimes when she is…she also fosters kittens for BHS until they are big enough and healthy enough to become adoptable.

Thank you Darci!
Foster Sweet Success: Louie
Reintroducing Louie! Louie has been in “fospice” care for 9 months now! When Louie originally came to us he wasn’t in good shape, upon intake we could see he had severe dental issues but that was only the tip of the iceberg.

Louie’s medical exam determined he has kidney disease, heart failure and a scrotal hernia all valid reasons why he couldn’t safely be put under anesthesia to treat his dental disease. The conditions make him at risk of not making it through surgery- so we decided the best thing for Louie was to live out his golden years in our foster program.
