Resolutions and South School: Perfect Together

Hello Pawesome Parents!

How are those resolutions going? Was one of them to see your fellow South School friends more?
You are in luck! Our Parent Night Out is coming up this Thursday, January 24 at Baldanza. Book your sitters and join the fun!

South School enjoyed a performing arts assembly with Antonio Rocha this week. Mr. Rocha is an award-winning storyteller who blends mime and the spoken word into his entertaining performances.
Please ask your child how they enjoyed the assembly! Read below for more details on his preformance!

January is also Box Top time at South School! Collecting Box Tops is a terrific and easy way to raise money for South School. The class with the largest amount of Box Tops wins a cupcake party. Did you know that Box Tops are included on lots of healthy food choices including frozen produce, yogurt, and most Annie's Brand products? So if one of your resolutions was healthier eating and snacking you may be able to benefit South with a Box Top too! More information on the program is below.

Hope to see you all Thursday at Parents' Night Out!

Best,
Anne & Carrie

Special Thanks To...

Sara Bakker, Betsy Magratten, and the Performing Arts Committee for coordinating the Antonio Rocha visit.

ADMINISTRATION NOTES

Kindergarten Registration Has Begun
If you, or anyone you know has a child who is eligible to attend kindergarten next year, please complete the online registration forms as soon as possible. It is very helpful for us to have incoming kindergartners registered early so that we can begin to plan for the number of class sections that will be needed next year. Our Kindergarten Orientation sessions for students and parents are planned for April 10 and 11. All parents who have already completed and submitted the registration paperwork will be invited to attend one of these sessions with their child.

Attendance Policy Reminder: CALL BACK SYSTEM - 594-4300, Press 1
If your child is going to be absent or tardy, please call the school between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Leave the date, child's name, teacher's name and the reason for absence on the recording.  If your child is reported absent and the name is not on the recording, you will be called to verify the absence.  This is known as the callback system. Children arriving late (after 8:15a.m.) are to report to the office for a late slip before going to the classroom.

South Spirit Day
Our Student Council Spirit Day will be held on Friday, January 25. The theme of this day is Crazy Hair Day.

Antonio Rocha Entertains at South School
CTCT-20190119_170531
All K-4 stud e nts enjoyed the PTC-sponsored Performing Arts Assembly on Monday, January 14. Solo storyteller, mime and author Antonio Rocha took the kids on a wild trip into the jungles of Brazil and Africa. Ant onio draws from his repertoire of animal tales with an ecological theme and a myriad of sound effects. This culturally diverse show was not only entertaining, but also addressed matters of communication, self esteem, conflict resolution, and respect. Ask your K-2nd grader how to make a jungle bird sound and ask your 3rd or 4th grader what the two qualities are that make up the V for victory. (happy and kind!)
