When is Give Day?

October 16-17, 2024

What is Give Day?

Give Day is a 24-hour online fundraising campaign to bring the St. Luke’s Episcopal School community together. The goals are to increase engagement and drive philanthropic donations to the school.

Why?

Simply put, tuition doesn’t cover the cost of educating our students. Give Day provides an opportunity for us to join together to provide our students with the resources they need to be successful in college and in life.

What’s the Goal?

$64,000

What’s the Theme?

For The Future

The campaign has a straightforward goal: to support the success of our students. So, Give 4 What You Love, Give 4 Who You Love, Give 4 St. Luke’s, Give 4 the Future!

Please join us on Give Day as we create a future full of opportunities.

BLESSING ANIMALS, RAIN OR SHINE!

Last week, we celebrated Blessing of the Animals. It looked a little different this year because of the rain, but that didn't stop Mary Alice from blessing many, many animals (and some more than once!) The blessing was a way to express gratitude for animals' important role in our lives and ask for their protection and well-being.

TECHNOLOGY KEEPS STUDENT CONNECTED IN THE CLASSROOM

One of our middle school football players, Tryce, recently experienced an unfortunate injury during a game. Thankfully, technology provided a remarkable solution to ensure he does not fall behind while he recovers. We've utilized one of our three telepresence robots, which allows him to attend school virtually from the comfort of his home.

This robotic presence in the classroom allows Tryce to interact with his teachers and classmates in real-time as if he were physically present. In Mrs. Anderson's class, for instance, he actively participates in discussions and group activities, seamlessly integrating into the academic environment.

Without the previous support of the Florence Foundation and Sonneborn Foundation, this opportunity would not have been available to Tryce. We are grateful for their dedication!

FLU SEASON, MEET YOUR MATCH!

St. Luke’s hosted a flu shot clinic for employees. We were fortunate to have Mary Page Martin (St. Luke’s Class of 2014) and fellow pharmacist Jessica Hung from Seemes Pharmacy taking care of us and keeping our team healthy and happy!

A special shout out to Trainer Dave, who raved about the stellar care he received!

ROLLING WITH PHYSICS: MRS. HAYNES' CLASS EXPLORES VELOCITY & ACCELERATION

Mrs. Haynes' Physics classes took to the streets to learn about velocity and acceleration. Each student was given the opportunity to ride a Razor scooter and calculate their own velocity with the help of a timing app. The students used their data to calculate the rate of acceleration and deceleration by analyzing the slopes of lines graphed on a velocity-time graph.

ST. LUKE'S STUDENTS UNLEASH NEWTON'S LAWS

Mrs. Perez's Physical Science students designed their own balloon-powered cars. The cars had to be built with a standard-size balloon and travel 5 meters. Students explained the cars' motions in terms of all three of Newton's Laws of Motion.

A DAY ON THE HILL: ST. LUKE'S FUNDAMENTALS II STUDENTS EXPERIENCE COLLEGE LIFE & PRE-HEALTH INSIGHTS

St. Luke's Fundamentals II students enjoyed a day on The Hill. They were treated to a campus tour by alum Taylor Jackson ‘23 (Biology/Pre-Med) and a Q&A session on transitioning to college life by Cammie Waite ‘24 (Biology/Pre-Med). They attended an immunology lecture and discussion of Pre-Health classes, a nursing lecture and activities, a simulation and skills lab tour, and a great lunch.

Thanks to all who had a part in our very informational day!

SUCCESSFUL MINI CHEER CAMP

Our middle school and varsity cheerleaders hosted a three-day mini-camp, a Friday night pizza tailgate, and cheering at a varsity football game! It was fun to celebrate so much school pride!

Go Wildcats!

ST. LUKE'S CENTER STAGE PRESENTS "PATTERNS & POWER:

THE FEMALE EDISON" OCTOBER 26 & 27th

Join us for our 1st Annual Trumbauer Showcase! Our Center Stage students will be competing at the District Trumbauer Theatre Competition soon, and you have the exciting chance to see their pieces before the competition! Students will perform their individual solos, monologues, and duet scenes, as well as our Fall Play, "Patterns and Power: The Female Edison".

In th-year-e 19th century, the patterns of life were often rigid and unchanging. How di year old girl, with little education and no experience with mechanical engineering, invent a safety part for a power loom? How did she not only get mill management to listen to her idea, but implement it? That’s exactly what Margaret E. Knight did. Based on the true story of this inventor, the play asks the question: how did she break the pattern?

The performances will be on October 26th at 6:00 p.m and October 27th at 3:00 p.m.

Please email hsmith@slesmobile.org with any questions.
