DESIGNS COME TO LIFE: CIVIL ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS EXPLORE DOWNTOWN MOBILE

Mrs. Haynes’ Civil Engineering and Architecture students brought their classroom learning to life through both hands-on projects and an engaging field trip. After researching and building models of various architectural styles, students set out on a walking tour of downtown Mobile to experience history and design up close.

The tour featured stops at some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the historic Old City Hall, the Van Antwerp Building, and the RSA Battle House lobby—where students tried out the famous whispering arches. Along the way, they studied architectural styles such as Greek Revival, Beaux-Arts, and Egyptian Revival, and discussed how adaptive reuse helps preserve these important buildings.

Students enjoyed lunch at The Cheese Cottage and capped the day with a sweet treat from Cammie’s Old Dutch.

The experience gave students the opportunity to connect classroom lessons with real-world examples of how architecture, engineering, history, and culture all come together to shape our community. Through this course, students are introduced to essential aspects of building and site design, applying math, science, and engineering practices to design residential and commercial projects and document their work with 3D architectural design software.

Bravo to Mrs. Haynes for such an incredible learning experience!

FUTURE SURGEONS AT PLAY, LEARNING THE SMART WAY

In the Japonica Campus Biomedical Sciences classroom, St. Luke’s future surgeons had a blast while sharpening their dexterity and hand-eye coordination. This life-sized Operation game was built by our high school Robotics students in collaboration with the Biomedical Sciences Innovations class!

INTRO TO ENGINEERING CHALLENGE:

TOWERS THAT REACH NEW HEIGHTS

Teamwork and innovation were on full display in Mr. Mutchnick’s Introduction to Engineering class. Students were tasked with an exciting challenge—build the tallest tower possible using just one sheet of paper and a limited amount of tape. The real test of success? Making sure their creation could stand tall for a full 60 seconds!

This hands-on activity encouraged creative problem-solving, collaboration, and the application of engineering principles—all while sparking plenty of fun and friendly competition.

JAPONICA CAMPUS SCIENCE LAB:

BUILDING BRIGHT MINDS IN STEM+M

Our Japonica Campus students have been diving into spatial skills and coding during their STEM+M lab class. Through fun, hands-on activities, they’re learning how to think critically, solve problems, and bring their ideas to life. These early experiences with coding and spatial reasoning are laying the foundation for future success in science, technology, engineering, math—and even medicine!

ST. LUKE'S ALUM SOARS: ALLIE CHAMPAGNE TO RELEASE

THE EAGLE AT AUBURN FOOTBALL GAME

This weekend, Allie will have the incredible honor of releasing the eagle at the Auburn football game and again at the upcoming Missouri game. She will also carry the eagle around the field during the game—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that highlights her dedication and passion for wildlife.

*Allie is currently a senior at Auburn University, majoring in Agriculture Pre-Vet, and is applying to veterinary schools.
