What is Give Day?

Give Day is an online fundraising campaign to bring the St. Luke’s Episcopal School community together. The goals are to increase engagement and drive philanthropic donations to the school.

Why?

Simply put, tuition doesn’t cover the cost of educating our students. Give Day offers an opportunity for us to come together and provide our students with the resources they need to succeed in college and life.

ST. LUKE'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

On Wednesday, we honored the Feast of Saint Luke, revered as the patron saint of physicians, surgeons, and artists. As the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, Saint Luke is celebrated for his literary contributions to the New Testament. He journeyed extensively with St. Paul on his missionary travels and holds the distinction of being the first recorded Christian physician and among the earliest converts to Christianity.

To commemorate Saint Luke's Day, the Japonica Campus paraded with banners leading to their weekly chapel service, while the University Campus enjoyed chapel service in the quad!

ST. LUKE'S BEHIND THE SCENES AT WKRG

St. Luke’s journalism class took a field trip to the WKRG studio, where they got an inside look at the world of broadcast news. Students worked in the editing bay, explored the weather center’s high-tech equipment, and spoke with editors and reporters about their roles. The highlight of the visit came when they watched the noon broadcast live—and were even featured on air!

SEUSSICAL KIDS SPREAD THE JOY OF READING

BEFORE SHOW THIS WEEKEND!

Some of our Seussical KIDS cast members had a fantastic time visiting the Japonica Campus, where they shared the magic of Dr. Seuss stories with younger students! We hope you’ll join us this weekend for the Seussical KIDS performance ***Today is the last day to purchase discounted tickets! Ticket information can be found in the announcements section below.

INSIDE MODERN ENGINEERING: STUDENTS LEARN FROM CIVIL ENGINEER MATT KIRKSEY

Our Civil Engineering and Architecture students had the opportunity to hear from Matt Kirksey, a Civil Engineer with GA West, who shared real-world insight into the field of civil engineering. Mr. Kirksey discussed load-bearing beams, structural foundations, and how evolving building codes impact project timelines and permitting. He also explained how 3D modeling is used in residential, commercial, and industrial applications to help engineers plan and visualize complex projects.

Students learned how problem-solving, project management, and critical thinking play a role in every engineering decision. Thank you, Mr. Kirksey, for giving our students a glimpse into the world of modern civil engineering!

SPOOKY SCIENCE ON THE JAPONICA CAMPUS: MUMMIES & MOLTS!

Our students got into the Halloween spirit with some Spooky Science! They had a blast learning about bandaging by practicing “mummy wrapping” on each other—hands-on fun that combined science and creativity.

The excitement didn’t stop there! Molly, our 14-year-old tarantula, molted for the third time.

Mrs. Thompson carefully preserved her molt in a shadow box, giving students a unique, up-close look at this fascinating part of arachnid biology.

Science lab on the Japonica Campus brings curiosity, learning,

and a little bit of spookiness just in time for Halloween!

GRILLER GIRLS WIN PEOPLE'S CHOICE AT GRILLED CHEESE MELTDOWN

Last week, our very own Griller Girl, Cammie, and her team—the Lady Dragonflies—took home First Place in the People’s Choice Award at the 7th Annual Grilled Cheese Meltdown! This talented group, made up of two St. Luke’s freshmen and two Faith Academy middle schoolers, impressed the crowd and judges alike, beating out restaurants and high school culinary teams with their delicious creation!
