HONORING 250 YEARS: ST. LUKE'S RECOGNIZED AS ALABAMA SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL SCHOOL
St. Luke’s is proud to be named one of Alabama’s Semiquincentennial Schools, an honor recognizing our participation in the celebration of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. By becoming one of Alabama’s Semiquincentennial Schools, St. Luke’s will focus on the values of patriotism and civic duty in our state and nation. We will not only celebrate this milestone but also offer whole-school coursework and opportunities for our students to understand the importance of participating in and contributing to our community, state, and country. **Pictured - Mrs. Champagne's second-grade class.

Pictured below: St. Luke’s students and Girl Scout Brownie Troop 285, Junior Troop 16, and 314 proudly celebrated the Bicentennial in January 1976, honoring 200 years of our nation’s history. Today, our current students and Girl Scout Troop 8743 carry that same spirit forward as they celebrate the Semiquincentennial, commemorating 250 years of America’s founding. From generation to generation,
St. Luke’s continues to honor tradition, patriotism, and civic pride while preparing students to
shape the future.

FROM CLASSROOM TO CAPITOL:
AP GOVERNMENT'S MOCK HOUSE EXPERIENCE
The AP Government students recently had an all-day in-school field trip where they participated in a mock session of the US House of Representatives. This educational exercise allowed them to step into the shoes of lawmakers, debating and deliberating on various issues while gaining firsthand insight into the legislative process. This experience not only deepened their understanding of government operations but also honed their public speaking and critical thinking skills, providing a practical application of their classroom learning.

ST. LUKE'S 3rd GRADE LEARNS ABOUT COLONIAL TIMES
Our 3rd graders traveled back in time for a hands-on journey through Colonial America! Dressed in authentic attire, students celebrated the season with a musical performance, learned how to make soap and candles, churned butter, practiced quill-and-ink writing, and visited the apothecary to explore medical care in colonial times. We love seeing our students engage history with such enthusiasm and curiosity—learning by living it!

St. Luke’s K5 students enjoyed giving back at Murray House, an Episcopal Diocese–owned assisted living residence in Mobile. Our students brightened residents’ day with their sweet singing voices and thoughtful and handmade artwork!

BRECK ENFINGER MAKES HISTORY
The Mobile Museum of Art has partnered with Government Plaza to present Celebration 3, a special art exhibit showcasing outstanding works from across the community. St. Luke’s second grader, Breck Enfinger, submitted an original painting for consideration—and it was selected for display in
Government Plaza.
Even more exciting, Breck is the first child ever chosen to be featured in this annual exhibit.
Celebration 3 will be on display through June 5.
We are incredibly proud of Breck’s hard work and his growing love for all things art!
***Below Breck is pictured with Stan Hackney, Curator of Art and Audience Engagement, and Jon Carfagno, Executive Director, from the Mobile Museum of Art.
