EXPLORING FORCES IN MOTION: 3RD GRADE HANDS-ON SCIENCE

world around them.

BREAKING BARRIERS IN PHYSICS
After learning about Newton’s Law and the different types of bridge forces, Physics students designed and built bridges. Once complete, the bridges were subjected to a load-bearing test to determine their strength. Students gradually added weight to their structure until they collapsed. This project not only tested their constructions but also provided invaluable insights into the practical challenges of engineering design.
Congratulations to Joshua, Alex, and Talon for building a bridge that held an incredible 780 pounds!
Their impressive design earned them the title of new St. Luke’s record holders—a true testament to teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering skill. Way to raise the bar!

RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT:
GROWING RESPONSIBILITY ON THE JAPONICA CAMPUS
The Japonica Campus’ Week 21 character trait is Respect for the Environment, and our 5th-grade Green Team is leading the way. Their goal is to help make the world a better place through initiatives that are both meaningful and impactful. These efforts not only educate students about caring for our planet, but also instill a strong sense of responsibility for the environment—lessons that will last far
beyond the classroom.

EXPLORING HEALTHCARE BEYOND THE HOSPITAL:
A LOOK INTO MEDICAL SALES
Our Biomedical Sciences Fundamentals II classes recently welcomed two guest speakers who introduced students to an important and often lesser-known side of healthcare: medical sales.
Neal Davis spoke with students about his work in medical sales, where he provides safety devices to hospitals, ranging from sensory pads that give nurses time to reach patients before they fall to bed restraints that help protect patients and workers. He emphasized the critical role these products play in protecting patients and healthcare professionals and highlighted the importance of preparation, compliance, and innovation in hospital settings.
Students also heard from Patrick Martin, a proud member of the St. Luke’s Class of 2018, who shared his personal journey into medical sales. Patrick discussed his role in orthopedic sales, including knee and hip replacements, and gave students an inside look at a typical day—from preparing for surgeries to being in the operating room to support surgical teams.
These real-world insights gave our students a broader understanding of the many career paths
within healthcare.
