ST. LUKE'S AEROSPACE ENGINEERING STUDENTS TAKE FLIGHT

Mrs. Haynes' Aerospace Engineering students are soaring to new heights with their engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Recently, they had the opportunity to practice on a flight simulator using specialized software designed to teach the fundamental skills required to pilot an aircraft. This immersive activity allows students to explore the intricacies of aviation, from flight planning and takeoff to level flight and landing.  Before diving into the simulator, the students had to configure the joysticks to ensure they were responsive to their inputs, which taught them about the mechanics of aircraft control systems and the importance of precision in handling these devices.  The flight simulator teaches the basic skills of piloting an aircraft and also teaches valuable lessons in problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability.  Impressive!

JAPONICA CAMPUS LEARNS FROM BEE EXPERT

Ms. Veronica from Honey on the Hill visited St. Luke's, bringing her a wealth of knowledge about the fascinating world of honeybees. She shared insights into their critical work at Honey on the Hill, including constructing habitats for millions of honeybees and rescuing swarms needing safe environments. Moreover, she emphasized the importance of educating the community about the role of bees, the effects of pesticides, and how our actions impact both bees and the broader environment. Through her engaging presentation, she highlighted the vital connection between flowers, bees, and human activity, inspiring us to be more mindful stewards of our natural world.

MRS. LERSCH'S FLIGHT AND SPACE CLASS CONTINUE TO SOAR WITH "BRING YOUR PARENTS TO SCHOOL DAY!"

Mrs. Lersch’s 6th grade Flight and Space class recently hosted a “Bring Your Parent to School Day” to allow our students and parents to collaborate on class work and for the parents to have the opportunity to see firsthand the innovative and hands-on learning environment their children enjoy. They participated in hands-on activities designed to demonstrate key concepts of flight and space. We hope the parents enjoyed the experience and witnessed their children's enthusiasm for learning.

FUNDAMENTALS IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES CLASS

EARNS CPR CERTIFICATION

Our Fundamentals in Biomedical Sciences Class just successfully obtained their CPR certifications, which equipped them with the knowledge and hands-on experience required to respond effectively in emergency situations. The training included using a Bag-Valve Mask (BVM) and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), two vital tools in cardiac arrest scenarios. We are proud of our students for their dedication to learning and willingness to take on responsibilities that could one day make a difference in someone's life.
