Featured Pet: Bailey

Bailey, a 7 year old Mini
Golden Doodle, loves to gather socks while staying with her host.  She lives in Edina with her folks, Julie & Doug.

Fall is officially here!  The kids are back in school and everyone is back to a routine!  Even our pets are adjusting to the new routines and the quiet in the home during the day.

Minnesota State Teacher's Conference is October 17th - 20th (This was formerly known as MEA).  This is a busy weekend for folks going out of town so please call for your reservation now.

Of course Thanksgiving and the winter break (Christmas/New
Years) will not be far behind.  We are accepting reservations for these vacations and some folks have already booked for Spring Break!  All of these reservations do require a non-refundable deposit and peak season cancellation policy will be in effect.

Give us a call with your dates and either Mary or I will be happy to assist you with your requests or click here to go on-line and book your stays.

We have started a blog since our last newsletter... sign up and receive tips on pet care along with new ideas for our pets along with some just fun trivia.  Mary has done a fantastic job of posting pictures of your pets so check those out as well.

The cooler weather is upon us so please treat your pets with flea preventative when we are caring for them. Please treat your pet with product obtained from your local veterinarian.

Thanks,  Ann

Think carefully when choosing a retractable leash for your dog!

As convenient as this type of leash seems
to be, there are many more reasons why pet owners should seriously consider using them in limited situations, if any.

There are reasons why retractable leashes aren't recommended for your dog....they can be dangerous and cause accidents (cuts, burns, tangled dogs and owners).  Often, a dog can become injured when they are jerked when they abruptly get to the end of the leash (after suddenly running after that rabbit or other dog they saw out of the corner of their eye).  Also, you may stop at a corner, but the dog may continue walking and get hit by a car, bike, truck or even a person Most areas of the Twin Cities ban the use of retractable leashes in parks and walking paths. Only a 6 foot (or less) is allowed..  Read more

Max's helpful hint:

I know I have a really bad habit of jumping on      people when they come to our home.

My folks have started putting the leash on me      before people arrive and then just as they            are approaching the door they tell me to sit          and stay; then they stand on my leash so I            cannot spring up onto the people.  They even      go so far as to tell my new friends to ignore          me until I calm down. I'm getting much better      even though it is very frustrating to me (but Mom & Dad are much happier with me and sometimes they even give me treats!)
