2025 National Merit Scholarship Finalist
Congratulations to senior Connor Fouts for advancing to Finalist standing in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program! Finalists represent less than one percent of the nation’s high school graduating seniors and have the opportunity to compete for some 6,780 Merit Scholarship awards worth nearly $26 million. To qualify as a finalist, National Merit Semifinalists submitted a detailed application that included academic records, PSAT/NMSQT scores, an essay, extracurricular contributions, and a teacher recommendation. Riverside Brookfield High School is incredibly proud of Connor for being nationally recognized for his academic excellence!

Auto Club Competition Awards
Congratulations to the 3 pairs of RB Auto Club members who competed in the Universal Technical Institutes’s Midwest Top Tech Challenge last Saturday! All three RB teams placed in the top 10 in the Midwest. The RB teams that placed in 4th and 5th beat out two of the best repeat champion high schools from Wisconsin and Indiana. All members received a stackable $1,000 scholarship, and juniors are eligible for a free summer engine repair class. Congratulations to the following members!

Boys Wrestling Regional Champs!
Boys Wrestling hosted IHSA Regionals and took home 1st place at the Regional Championship! ELL Interview with the Principal
Our ELL English I-V students had an opportunity to interview Dr. Freytas on Tuesday! The students loved building a personal connection with him as he shared stories from his own high school and professional experiences and offered valuable advice on how to succeed in high school and beyond. Our diverse, multilingual students—speaking Arabic, Ukrainian, Spanish, Cameroonian French, and more—asked thoughtful, engaging questions that made for an inspiring session!

RB students attended the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) National Conference in Chicago! This event brings together over 5,000 students, educators, and professionals for leadership development, networking, and career opportunities. Attendees connected with colleges, employers, and heard from nationally recognized speakers. Thank you, Mrs. Carey, for providing our students with this invaluable experience!

RB Model UN at Francis W. Parker School
On February 1, RB Model UN attended FWPMUN IX at Francis W. Parker School in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. Students learned about international humanitarian aid from Dr. Zaher Sahloul, cofounder of MedGlobal, an organization that dispatches medical professionals, equipment, and care around the world. They also collaborated with peers from around the Chicagoland area on resolutions to international issues, past and present, like weapons of mass destruction and the French Revolution.

Communicating with Adolescents & Teens Presentation by NAMI
Join us for "Communicating with Adolescents & Teens… Without Money, Magic, or Eyerolls" on Thursday, February 27 from 6:30–7:30 PM at Riverside Brookfield High School in the Little Theatre.
Learn practical communication strategies to help your teen feel seen, heard, and understood. Attendees will learn four communication skills and why they work, a three-step method to create collaboration, and how and why OUR emotional regulation matters in communicating with our kids. Presented by Trina Bockus, CFPS, CFPP, Family Support Specialist at NAMI Metro Suburban.
Mental health resources will be available from The Loft at 8 Corners, NAMI Metro Suburban, and Pillars Community Health.
