Congratulations to the four RB students who graduated from the Plumbers Local Union 130 Training Bridge Program! Students who completed the program with a score of 80% or higher earned 5 points toward their apprenticeship exam. After graduating high school, these students can begin their 5-year apprenticeship with the Plumbers Union. Congrats to Isaiah Flores, Carlos Olavarria Jr., Marco Vidales, and Darius Ferrier on kickstarting your career in the trades!
Through their Business II Entrepreneurship class, Senior Lillian L. and Junior Kate Z. successfully organized a Pet Supply Drive benefiting Cat Nap From the Heart, demonstrating both their business sense and commitment to helping animals in need. Lillian and Kate extend their gratitude to all members of the RB community who generously donated supplies to support this cause! 🐾
Students in Mr. May’s Advanced Autos class gained hands-on experience inspecting and measuring drum brake parts, diagnosing engine rough idle and low MPG, replacing spark plugs, diagnosing wheel vibrations, balancing tires, and machining disc brake rotors.
Mr. Lewis's Honors Culinary Arts students participated in a Chopped-like cooking competition as part of their flavor profiles and food presentation unit. Students were tasked to create a dish with five ingredients: ground beef, tomato, basil, half a baguette, and mini marshmallows. After students completed their dishes, they presented it to the judge and explained why they flavored and plated their dish the way they did. This lesson allowed students to reimagine the resources around them and show creativity in the dishes they create.
Construction I students finished constructing their mini rooms and then added the electrical components. Students installed an electrical conduit and ran the wires through the conduit to each electrical box. Meanwhile, Construction II students started working on their 2-way switch projects, which involve making a presentation board and adding all the electrical boxes before running all the wires.
As part of their fruit unit, Foods I students were tasked with creating fruit pizzas. Students baked the sugar cookie base, assembled their frosting, and cut the fruit they wanted to use. Creating fruit pizzas was an artistic way for students to use fruit in a recipe and further practice their time management and communication skills.
Game Design & Animation students designed their own board and card games as a foundation for their digital game designs. They developed rules, objectives, and challenges to create engaging gameplay experiences. After designing board layouts and card elements, they tested their games with peers, refining mechanics and problem-solving skills along the way.
After designing their own board or card games, Game Design & Animation students moved on to creating simple digital games. Using coding languages, they programmed the rules, objectives, and mechanics while designing an engaging user interface. They also developed animations and graphics, tested their games, and resolved any coding errors to ensure smooth gameplay.
Electronics Tech students Rebecca, Emily, and Kyle worked together to create a neon bulldog sign for RBTV’s podcast room!
Business Communications II students engaged in brainstorming sessions to develop innovative product ideas for a new entrepreneurship project, the “Freshman Bulldog Starter Kit.” By collaborating in small teams, they generated and evaluated concepts based on originality and market potential, laying the groundwork for their business plans and pitches to the judges.
In Mr. Olson’s Electronics Tech class, student Sofia Meraz designed and developed a neon sign for the upcoming RB spring musical, Rock of Ages. Sofia worked hard in class to plan out the details and wiring of the sign for the theater production. Check out “The Bourbon Room” sign at the spring musical from March 6-9!
