Australia

On August 2, 2025, Pax Christi Queensland member, David Tutty, participated in the Pacific Peace Network Conference in Brisbane. Participants discussed the growing militarisation in the region, AUKUS and nuclear submarines, the ongoing effects of nuclear testing, Indigenous rights and climate change. Read more. Korea

On 6 and 9 August 2025, during the 80th anniversary memorial Masses in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Anselmo Lee (Pax Christi Korea) and Giulia Bordin (Pax Christi International) read the Pax Jubilee 2025 Declaration, calling for a nuclear-free Asia-Pacific and global disarmament. Japan

The right-wing populist party on a Trump style “Japanese First” slogan 

Sansei-To won 14 seats at the Upper House election, which was held on July 22, 2025. The party holds nuclear-armed Japan since nuclear armament is “inexpensive and safe”. The party emphasizes that the cause of poverty and low wages is the flood of foreigners into the nation. Japan is grappling with rising xenophobia. Read more here and here.

Philippines

33 educators from 12 Mindanao State University campuses gathered at Miriam College (June 9–10, 2025) to assess and strengthen Peace Education. Through collaboration, they shared best practices and mapped ways forward—from curriculum reforms to deeper student engagement. This is vital in Philippine peace education as it empowers teachers to build a culture of peace in classrooms and communities. Read more.

Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, two recent moments of resilience and remembrance stand out: June’s solidarity for Dilshan, a survivor of police torture, during an event on the International Day in Support of the Victims of Torture, and July’s commemoration of Fr. Selvarajah, a priest who vanished in 1990. Both urge truth, accountability, and compassion.
