In light of Sri Lanka's reality, he reiterates that the Pope's Message for the 2026 World Day of Peace is not designed for secrecy, but for wide application.

Fr Jun Nakai, SJ, coordinator of the Migrants and Refugees Network of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific. spoke at the Catholic Peace Forum on 11th January 2026 on Pope Leo's call for a 'disarmed and disarming peace', relevant for many actively working towards a world without nuclear weapons.

Pax Christi Korea held a national seminar with Catholic and civil society groups on “Disarmed and Disarming Peace”, the call of Pope Leo's message. Anselmo Lee, Co President of Pax Christi Korea and Asia Pacific Vice President of ICMICA presented the following report. He also initiated the Catholic Peace Forum.

Nepal

Nepal joins News Brief for the first time with Prakash Khadka's presentation at the Catholic Peace Forum. A Nepali human rights and development worker, and as a member of the International Catholic Movement for Intellectual and Cultural Affairs (ICMICA), he has engaged in peace building, community development and interfaith dialogue.

Philippines

Addressing the Catholic Peace Forum, Bianca Reyes challenges Filipinos to respond to Pope Leo's call for a 'disarmed and disarming peace' crucial to a country unsettled by violence and poverty. Bianca Is Program Assistant at the Center for Peace Education - Miriam College, and Moderator of Pax Christi's student wing.

Sr Bridget Crisp, RSM, a member of the Pax Christi International Board, Pax Christi Aotearoa/New Zealand and Pax Christi Asia Pacific, participated in the Catholic Peace Forum on January 11th 2026. Heeding the Pope's message will assist with the contemporary relationship between the Crown (New Zealand government) and the Maori people.
