Pax Christi Australia condemns the actions of police in Sydney on Monday 9 February 2026 during a

peaceful protest against the visit of the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. 
Those present at the protest refused

the comfort of silence knowing how this form of silence increases harm.

Sri Lanka

The Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) is a powerful tool which the present government of Sri Lanka promised to repeal on its election. Critics of government policy and actions were often targeted. Ruki Fernando, a human rights writer, trainer and defender, was himself detained under this Act.

Philippines

The Center for Peace Education Miriam College, with Pax Christi Pilipinas and partners, held World Interfaith Harmony Week. Christian and Muslim students engaged in dialogue and collaboration, demonstrating a key role of youth in promoting peace, interfaith harmony, care for humanity and the Earth.

Aotearoa

The 6th of February marks the Treaty, signed in Waitangi between the British and Maori chiefs in 1840, which founded modern New Zealand.
