Korea

On 27 September, during nationwide Climate Justice Marches in Korea, around 200 people, including clergy and Pax Christi Korea members, joined a street Mass in Seoul led by Bishop Kang Woo-il. Participants later marched to the main rally, supporting six key demands for structural change, social justice and peace.

Japan

Former Economic Security Minister Sanae Takaichi has been elected president of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party amid public frustration over rising prices. Critics warn her leadership risks further militarisation and threatens peace and democracy.

September 21, the Trillion Peso March gathered voices demanding accountability for stolen public funds. Students of Miriam College, alongside alumni and peace advocates, joined the nationwide call. Their presence highlighted youth leadership in confronting corruption, echoing the struggle for justice, transparency and a better future for all.

Nine Tamil Malaiyaha families on Hammeliyawatte estate in southern Sri Lanka face eviction after decades of exploitation. Supported by human rights groups, they are resisting and demanding land titles and housing under the 1971 Estate Quarters Act.
