Why Politico’s big Roe v. Wade scoop is unprecedented
Gerstein and Ward wrote, “The Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito circulated inside the court and obtained by POLITICO.” ...
Because such a draft becoming public is so rare — the Politico story called it an “extraordinary window into the justices’ deliberations in one of the most consequential cases before the court in the last five decades” — media observers were quick to at least question its authenticity and whether Politico should have run with it.

EXPLAINER: What Twitter could do as privately held company
If Elon Musk and Twitter get their way, the company will soon be privately held and under his control.
The most obvious immediate change would likely be Twitter's stock being taken off the New York Stock Exchange. But the company would also likely get freed from having to give regular updates about its business to U.S. regulators and to Wall Street.
One important change for Twitter users is that the company would likely have more freedom to make big or unpopular changes. That's because it wouldn't have to worry about potential blowback from Wall Street.

America's Newspapers will recognize editorial page excellence at its annual meeting this fall, with the presentation of the 2022 Carmage Walls Commentary Prize.
The prize is named for the late Benjamin Carmage Walls whose newspaper career spanned seven decades. Walls primarily owned community newspapers and advocated strong, courageous and positive editorial page leadership. His friends and associates funded the cost of the awards for the first 10 years. Southern Newspapers, Inc. — led by Lissa Walls Cribb, his daughter, CEO of Southern Newspapers — has been underwriting the cost of the awards since then.
