Hello Members,
Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for the AGM on Wednesday, it was great seeing you all.
Now more than ever, businesses are moving online and, while it might feel like the next logical step for your business, the thought of building an online store can be incredibly overwhelming. If this is the situation you find yourself in, here are two resources that may be able to assist you in getting the job done:
Build Your Shopify Store In 10 Days Course
This is a pay-what-you-can course offered by Social Lite and here's how it works:
This is a live, online course with
Social Lite’s
eCommerce veteran and Shopify expert, Simon Trafford, and is open to anyone, anywhere in the world. Simon will walk you through how to build a Shopify store from scratch, step-by-step, over the course of four, two-hour sessions as follows:
- The course will be divided into four two-hour sessions and will take place on June 16, June 18, June 23, and June 25. You can get started by creating an account on Shopify using this link.
- Each session will be from 2pm - 4pm PDT online. We will email you the link for each session beforehand.
- If you’re unable to make any of the sessions, that’s not a problem. You will have access to the session recordings after each live class, so you can re-watch and follow along at your own pace.
Get started for $5, $10, or up to $100. The choice is yours. We only ask that you pay what you
can

BCIT Program For Website Assistance
BCIT is currently accepting proposals from businesses who would like help from their tech-savvy students to get a project off the ground. This program was brought to our attention by our very own Chi Cheng Lee (thanks Chi!) who used the program to have students revamp her online store. Here's some information about the program, including how you can apply:
Our Industry Sponsored Student Projects (ISSP) program puts BCIT Computing students to work on your tech projects. We're currently
accepting proposals
again for the September term (deadline July 30). And with our
remote format
, you don't need to be near campus to tap into the talents of our driven students.
From DevOps and networking to website and mobile application development, and from machine learning and algorithms to games. If you have a project that needs a push to get it jumpstarted, or finished, ISSP's are a low-cost way to go and free for non-profits. Our student teams (4 - 7 students) are ready to work on your challenge for no less than 13 weeks (around 400 hours).
Every year dozens of companies all over Metro Vancouver – and beyond – work together with our
motivated students
.
Here's hoping you can make your online dreams a reality!
Cheers,
David Camisa
