You can use pretax dollars to pay for child care for your dependent children who are younger than 13. A MoneyPlus Dependent Care Spending Account allows you to make pretax contributions to help reduce your overall costs, and it’s easy to use. Your annual election amount will be divided into equal payments based on your pay periods and deducted from each paycheck before taxes. As you have eligible expenses, you request reimbursement up to the amount you have available in your DCSA.
Enroll in an DCSA for 2026 during this year’s open enrollment and use your funds for things like:
- Day care;
- General purpose day camps (overnight camp is not eligible);
- Babysitting;
- Before- and after-school care;
- Nursery or preschool; and
- Prekindergarten expenses.
When estimating the amount you will spend on dependent care throughout the year, consider vacation and holiday time, when you might not have to pay for dependent care. You can use funds you contribute in 2026 for eligible expenses incurred January 1, 2026, through March 15, 2027. You will forfeit any unused funds.
Adjust your election amount throughout the year
You may be able to adjust your DCSA election amount if you have a special eligibility situation. These events include, but are not limited to:
- Marriage or divorce;
- Birth, placement for adoption or adoption;
- Placement for custody;
- Gaining or losing employment;
- Change from full-time to part-time employment, or vice versa; and
- Change in day care provider.
