Definite "Yes" on Paycheck Protection for Churches

We have gotten definitive word from our local banking community that applications from churches for the Payroll Protection Program will be considered.  We encourage you prepare an application and submit it through your local bank.

Payroll records for the past 12 months are required.  If your church has independent 501(c)(3) status, then you should have the IRS Determination Letter conferring that status on your church. The LBC advises us that it has mailed to each LBC church what it needs to document its tax-exempt status.

Filings begin today.  Click here to download a copy of the application  you'll need to complete and submit to your local bank.  For information, here is overview of the program , and here is an information sheet with more detail .
Palm Sunday Online Prayer Event This Sunday, April 5, at 7pm

A group of pastors, including our own Fred Luter and Dennis Watson, have organized a Palm Sunday Evening Online Prayer Service for this Sunday, April 5, starting at 7pm.

In attendance will be Governor John Bel Edwards, p arish leaders from Jefferson, Orleans and St. Tammany Parishes, and several local pastors representing a variety of denominations in our region.

Please join this online prayer service that will be broadcast on WLAE (AT&T, DISH - Ch. 32, CHARTER - Ch. 11 & 711, COX - Ch. 714 & 1014, and at www.praynola.com .

Send out word to your congregation (via email, text, social media post, etc) encouraging them to join us as well. We believe that if thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) will come together and pray simultaneously, in Pastor Fred's words, "The Lord will show up and show out." We desperately need for Him to do so at this time in our region.
New Blog Post from Dr. Rex Butler

Dr. Rex Butler of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary has contributed a timely, inspiring, and practical  blog post on NOBA's website. Please read and take to heart the ways that Christians have responded to medical crises throughout church history. These stories give us models for how we can respond to the COVID-19 crisis today.
