Paying it Forward...

Start
I trust you've all had a lovely holiday and are eager to get this new decade started!
We too had a great kickoff to the New Year -- we signed up four (4) new clients Jan 2 and 3 and have two more potential clients! How fantastic a start to a new year is that?

We have been truly blessed to be here almost 15 years after we first started and to have been so well supported by locals and snowbirds alike. That's why we launched our Helping Hand Award -- to give back to the community and help someone's life be a little better.

Helping Hands Heart
We are pleased to announce the first recipient of our Helping Hand Award -- a full 100 hours of personal assistance -- Alicia Ramirez!

Ms. Ramirez is a single mother of two boys who works two physically demanding jobs in order to support herself. This means her personal time is severely limited and hopefully we'll be able to assist her with tasks that will free up her non-working time so she can have more time for herself and her children.

Thank you to Vicki and Dick Mills who nominated Ms. Ramirez! And thank you to everyone who sent in nominations for this award.

Our winter season is in full swing already which means there are lots of people here so we'd like to challenge you to think how you too can give back to our community whether you live here full or part-time.

Giving Back to the Community

Here are some opportunities for giving back:

--Desert Best Friend's Closet -- donate gently used professional clothing for both men and women to this organization who provides education and wardrobe assistance to low income persons seeking better jobs (or first time employment). www.bfcloset.org

--Coachella Valley Rescue Mission -- donate clothes, food, or personal care items to this organization who helps our valley's homeless. CVRM also has a resale store so feel free to donate quality household items as well. www.cvrm.org

--Soroptimist House of Hope -- donate women's clothes and personal care items to this organization that provides addiction treatment for indigent women. For many this is their last hope to get their life back. SHOH's recovery statistics are on par with any large facility and have been doing great work for nearly 40 years. https://recoveryhouseofhope.org

--Galilee Center -- donate food, clothing and personal care items to this organization who provides support to underprivileged people in our East Valley, particularly to the families of migrant farm workers. https://galileecenter.org/

--FIND Foodbank -- donate non-perishable foods to this organization who is dedicated to ending food insecurity in our desert community. You can also volunteer to help at the Foodbank at any time. Especially when you get close to planning your departure for the season, please consider donating your left over non-perishable items. http://www.findfoodbank.org/

Volunteers
There are many more charitable groups than these, Breast Cancer Awareness, American Heart Foundation, Diabetes Foundations, Boys and Girls Clubs, Gilda Radner foundation, AIDS groups, just to name a few, but I wanted to share with you some of the smaller and lesser known organizations that rely almost solely on the generosity of our community.

There are also regular independent drives for coats, socks, bras and personal care items for the homeless in our community. Anything you can do to help is so greatly appreciated.

One thing we do, besides the Helping Hand Award, is to collect hotel amenities when we are traveling because those tiny shampoo and soaps and conditioner bottles are the perfect size for someone who is in recovery or homeless or in transitional care.

If you like to travel, maybe you can start saving these too - they mean so much to someone in need.

And if you don't know where to donate items or don't have time, by all means, call Executive Errands®. We will pick up and drop off items up to 25 pounds at no charge to you.

Pay it forward
Paying it Forward means being grateful for the good and prosperity we have in our lives and doing what we can to give some of it to others. The more we give, the more that comes back to us. It is how the Universe works.

We are excited about 2020. New business kicked off with a bang. We have a great team in place. We're restructuring our processes to improve efficiencies even further and to accommodate our continued growth.

A new decade. A fresh opportunity to do more for others. What will you do? How will you pay your good fortune forward?

Until next time, be grateful for your family, your health and your prosperity. Give back -- give to someone less fortunate -- do a kindness for another. You'll be amazed how good it feels.
