Welcome to Update - June 2021
Working towards a truly just,
healthy and peaceful world.
  • Jabba Dabba Do and other Vaccine Equity Fund support
  • Celebrating our Indigenous partners and the virtual Mapping Exercise
  • 2021 Ride for Refuge supports Light for Every Birth campaign
  • July 13 webinar: Growing Together with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank
Voices of Hope can be shared in your parish as a half-page bulletin insert, read as an announcement, or included in an e-blast. This month we share the story of River McComber (above), a participant in a Mohawk language program with our partner KORLLC in Quebec.

Vaccine Equity Fund inspires creative fundraisers
Parishes across the country have gotten involved, finding creative ways to come together and raise money for the vaccine equity fund, while staying safe and distant. One such Parish, Church of the Ascension in London, Ont., set up a drive-thru fundraiser called “Jabba Dabba Do,” a play on Fred Flintstone’s iconic catchphrase.
Celebrating and honouring our Indigenous partners
June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a chance to recognize the many achievements of Indigenous peoples from coast to coast to coast. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the distinct cultures and unique traditions of these Indigenous communities.
Ride for Refuge rolls out in support of Light for Every Birth
Participants are invited again to be as creative as they want in choosing how they fundraise for this year's campaign. Walk, ride, sing, kayak, bake as we try to surpass last year's efforts.
All Mothers and Children COVID-19 Extension donation period ends June 30
Many thanks to all of those who have generously donated to PWRDF’s AMCC COVID-19 extension that includes a 6:1 match. Individuals and groups have contributed to supporting vulnerable communities through this crisis, allowing our partners to preserve the gains that have been made from 2016-2020. Funds received before June 30, 2021 are eligible for the match. If you have been raising funds in your community for this project, please ensure donations are submitted by June 30, 2021. Thank you for your continuing support.

PWRDF wants to hear from you!
Please share your fundraising success stories to inspire others and to spread the word about the good work you have done! Email Christine Hills and tell us about it. Many thanks to all of our donors.
