SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT: The PVMHS Student Health Center

Now in its 11th year, the PVMHS Student Health Center is a fully functioning health center located inside Peabody High School, open to any student who attends the high school. School-based health centers provide care for students where they are, providing easy access, and keeping them healthy so they can perform well in school.

The Student Health Center is located in room B110 (first floor, outside the cafeteria and close to the medical assisting classrooms), and is open from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm all days that school is in session.

Services offered to students include immunizations, physicals, sports physicals, sick visits, confidential services, nutritional counseling, substance use/abuse counseling, and behavioral health therapy.

All visits are of no charge to students; they will bill insurance if possible, but there are no co-pays. Students will be seen and cared for regardless of insurance status.
Check out the Student Health Center website for more information, and reach out to your student’s Dean or Counselor with any questions about accessing the services provided by the Health Center.

(Thank you to PVMHS Principal Randall for allowing Peabody PROMISE to copy this information from her awesome weekly update.)

BLOOM TIP of The MONTH: 5 Ways to Win.

  1. Get outside for 10 minutes daily — even if it’s cold. Natural light and fresh air shift mood.
  2. Notice your stress signal before it escalates — and name it early.
  3. Have one intentional conversation that strengthens a relationship. Remember presence over perfection.
  4. Protect your sleep like it fuels everything — because it does.
  5. Build in one 5-minute pause each day— breathe before reacting.

NEW! Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum ~ Wayfinder

T
he Peabody PROMISE Curriculum Subcommittee, along with generous support from the Peabody Education Foundation, has implemented a new K-12 social and emotional (SEL) curriculum to help students at all grade levels navigate through school and life with a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaning. All staff were trained on the new platform at the January 16th professional development day. Teachers, counselors, and district and building leaders officially kicked off the implementation during the week of January 26th, using activities selected for their grade level and providing feedback along the way to inform future planning.
