Peaceful Paws gets Business Recognition Award

The Economic Development Commission selected Peaceful Paws Pet Spa to receive a City Business Recognition Award in conjunction with National Business Women’s Week. Peaceful Paws Owner Eileen Marty accepted the award for 2023 Women-Owned Business of the Year at Thursday’s City Council meeting.

The daughter of a veterinarian, Marty grew up around animals and loves pets of all kinds. She went on to marry the son of a veterinarian who was in the Army. Traveling from duty station to duty station, Marty started to help other military spouses with grooming their pets about 10 years ago after learning on her own dog.

Fast forward to February 2022 and Marty opened the doors of Peaceful Paws inside the Mall at Sierra Vista. Taking pride in offering fear-free grooming, Marty has seen her base of clients grow steadily and significantly since then. She takes great care in getting to know the animals she grooms and ensuring her staff and business are American Kennel Club S.A.F.E. certified. As an owner of three, soon to be four, dogs herself, Marty understands how much trust people must place in their groomer.

“So many dogs have had bad experiences with groomers,” Marty said. She’s had several clients with dogs that hated going to a groomer but now come rushing and skidding around the corner into Peaceful Paws like a Mario Kart racer, excited for each appointment.

Her staff of five works as a true team to ensure all animals are cared for and are always under supervision to avoid any accidents. When her clients take their pets home, they leave with report cards noting any new moles, bumps, lacerations, or other issues not present in their last visit. A groomer may notice things their owners miss, and Marty sees it as an added checkup between their regular vet visits.

"I’m very thankful to this community, the City of Sierra Vista, for opening their arms when my husband decided to retire from the military, allowing us to make this our home," Marty says. "What I do is truly a passion. I love working with animals. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t just love going to work." Read the full story.
