We are almost three quarters through our 2019 season with just a few events left to earn points for the opportunity to represent South Carolina in the first bi-annual Peach-Palmetto Showdown. Eight players will compete against Georgia’s top eight players for the championship November 16, 17-18, 2019 at Reynolds Lake Oconee – The Preserve. The top four players** in Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year standings come November 1 will be the South Carolina Team under Captain Kelly Tilghman. It is a really close race right now with numerous players in each POY race capable of earning a spot.
There are two ways to earn points for the event: first is to play in the remaining WSCGA Championships and WSCGA One Day State Events left to play prior to points cut off date. The WSCGA Walton Horton and Jeanne Campbell WSCGA Match Play Championship September 16-18 at The Palmetto Club in Aiken and the WSCGA/SCGA Mixed Team Championship October 19-20 at Dataw Island Club; both events are currently open for registration . The WSCGA One Day events are Pebble Creek, Tuesday, September 10 and the duel one day event at Washesaw East Plantation October 9 which is a combination of an 18 hole and 9 hole One Day State event. Second, is to play in any other Associations events between now and November 1, i.e. SCGA, CGA, etc. If you do earn points through other association events, please note it is the players’ responsibility to email in those results to the WSCGA for credit.
