Day one of double matches (36 holes) ended well and the weather was perfect, a beautiful cloud free high 70's day. Both teams were ready to compete and represent their respective states with pride and ambition. The first round of matches for the day was a Four-ball match play nassau format playing for one point on front, back and total. Both teams came out of the gate ready to make some points making round 1 full of great matches. South Carolina and Georgia both had 2 matches swept their 3 points, leaving one match to set the stage for the afternoon matches. Georgia won that battle to take the lead 8 to 7 in the morning matches. The afternoon format was Foursomes which is an alternate shot with one player teeing off on odd holes and the other on even holes. Turned out to be a little more challenging for the ladies, hitting shots not from their normal spots, but no one gave up setting up Monday's singles matches in the position of the championship still up for grabs. Georgia secured 3 more points than South Carolina in the afternoon, ending the day with Georgia 17 and South Carolina 13.
Final round matches are singles matches with a total of 30 points available, so it's still anyones title to take. First match goes out at 9:10am so make sure to have your live scoring page ready for action because this should be an exciting finish with some amazing matches played.
