Special Election Results

The results of the November 8, 2022, Peachtree City special municipal election are in, a run-off is scheduled.

Over half of Peachtree City's registered voters (55.66%) cast ballots for the vacant city council post 3 seat.

This election will be certified by the Fayette County Board of Elections on November 14, 2022 at 5pm in the Public Meeting room at 140 Stonewall West Suite 100 Fayetteville GA 30214.

The top two candidates receiving the most votes will advance to the December 6, 2022 runoff.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is November 25, 2022.

Hispanic Heritage Celebrated at Drake Field

The long awaited Hispanic Heritage Festival took place last Saturday at Drake Field.

Originally scheduled for October, which is Hispanic Heritage Month, Saturday's event proved that Hispanic heritage can be celebrated any day of the year.

People packed Drake Field where they danced to vibrant live music, visited rows of vendors, and sampled tasty treats from a fleet of food trucks serving flavorful food inspired by the Hispanic community.

Millage Rate Changes Over Last 10 Years

Annually, the Peachtree City Mayor and Council adopts a millage rate. This is the tax rate you pay for each $1,000 of your home’s assessed value, which is 40% of its fair market value. Over the last 10 years, the millage rate in Peachtree City has dropped 1.135 mills, from $7.178 per thousand dollars in 2012 to our current millage rate of $6.043 per thousand dollars. Fayette Senior Services Brings Holiday Hope!

Fayette County Senior Services hope they can bring another round of cheer to our aging residents this holiday season.

Community partners and other individuals come together and provide around 100 local seniors with presents. It's called "Hope for the Holidays."

“The purpose of Hope for the Holidays is to spread holiday cheer to seniors who are financially challenged, shut-in, or lonely and who may otherwise not have any gifts this holiday season," Fayette Senior Services case manager Iris Harris said.

"Hope for the Holidays" is like the popular gift exchange, "Secret Santa."

Ornaments hang on Christmas trees at Senior Services offices in Fayetteville and Peachtree City. Each ornament includes a wish from a senior. People can come by, choose an ornament, and buy that gift. Volunteers then wrap the presents and deliver them along with a bag of fresh fruit.

This is the tenth consecutive year of "Hope for the Holidays."

Those wanting to buy a gift for Fayette's seniors can drop by the agency's Fayetteville and Peachtree City locations, and pick an ornament. The deadline to return gifts is Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
