RIPE 'N READY TIMES

Pear Month 2025

Celebrate National Pear Month with

Ripe & Ready Canned Pears

Perfectly ripe and ready to use, canned Bartlett pears (and the juice!) are a delicious ingredient in baked goods. Our collection includes pear crisp, carrot cake, turnovers, bread pudding, carrot cake, cheesecake, grab-and-go bars, and hand pies. The natural pear flavor adds sweetness with zero fat to baked goods.

December is National Pear Month, and it’s a great time to celebrate U.S. grown canned Bartlett pears. Our pears are grown by American farmers in Oregon and Washington and packed by local canneries. Peeled, cut, then poached in juice or sweetened syrup, nothing else is added to the can. Canned Bartlett pears are versatile and ready to use in recipes or enjoy straight from the can. Check the label for “Product of the USA” and buy American!

Caramelized Pear & Gorgonzola Pizza with Tricolore Salad

What was your inspiration for creating your winning recipe?

The inspiration for my recipe came from my fascination for craft pizzas. The art of creating something from scratch, being able to combine ingredients that normally aren’t combined, that was the biggest factor. I figured that most people would go for a sweet, delicious dessert. I figured I would challenge myself with a savory recipe. When I signed up for this event, we were right in the middle of Spring, so I decided to go with something that is perfect to enjoy during Spring and Summer alike!

What’s your favorite way to eat canned pears?

My favorite way to eat canned pears are over a campfire with marshmallows. Like I mentioned before, the textures on these pears and marshmallows after roasting over a fire……AMAZING!!!

Pull Out the Pears for Baking Month

The new year is coming quick, and January is National Baking Month, and canned Bartlett pears are the ripe-and-ready ingredient that bakers appreciate. We flipped Pear Banana Muffins into a sheet pan version for schools and other high-volume kitchens. Try this on your menu, and let us know what you think!

Our Sustainability Story

Did you know that Pacific Northwest Bartlett pear trees produce large and small fruit? Before the fruit heads to the cannery or to the fresh market, they are measured on the tree to determine the best destination. Pears that head to nearby canneries are ripened, then cored, peeled, and poached right in the BPA-free cans. Nothing is added except the poaching liquid—pear juice or a lightly sweetened syrup. This is the same time-honored canning process used by past generations of home canners to preserve the fruits of summer throughout the year.

Pro tip: Did you know that everything in a can of pears is usable?
